New in 2017: Guided tours on innovative topics


Guided tours at the LASER World of PHOTONICS

In 2017, the LASER World of PHOTONICS was offering visitors something new: so-called guided tours will connect trade fair visitors with experts in established research fields. Tour participants will acquire an overview of the selected topic and, true to this year’s motto “Light under control”, receive tailored advice for their specific problems.

Do you have a concrete problem for which you need the advice of a professional?

Then you should participate in one of our guided tours.

Experts from the Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management (iwb) and the Bavarian Laser Center (blz) will kick things off with an introductory presentation on the topic and then go into greater detail on a guide tour of selected innovation drivers in the respective sector.

Experts from the iwb and the blz will be available to answer questions after the tour.

New scanner systems for highly-dynamic beam deflection – this and other topics will be discussed during the tour “Trends in remote laser processing”. Visitors will also gain insight into new developments in peripheral systems for scanners. An additional focal point of this tour is the integration of modern sensor technology in process monitoring.

Laser material processing for e-mobility applications (iwb)

The tour “Laser material processing for e-mobility applications” is focused on recent developments in specialized laser beam sources, which can be used to guarantee the efficiency and robustness of process control during structuring, cutting, and welding applications. This is especially important in the production of batteries, electronic appliances, and electric motors, in which highly-reflective materials such as copper, Hilumin®, and aluminum are processed. A wealth of knowledge about relevant problems and their applicable technical solutions will also be presented.

Intelligent system engineering for process monitoring (blz)

The guided tour “Intelligent system engineering for process monitoring” presents the visitors with a portfolio of process monitoring tools offered by leading suppliers and used in laser welding. Here, visitors will have the chance to learn about not only the performance capacity of these systems, but also the integration of the monitoring technology into processing optics.

What „Industrie 4.0“ means for laser material processing (iwb)

What do buzzwords such as “digital twin” and “networked production” have to do with laser material processing? The tour “What „Industrie 4.0“ means for laser material processing” will enlighten visitors on how these two topics are related. For this, an emphasis will be put on new sensor concepts, as well as the automatic data processing for quality control during production that comes with them. Visitors will be brought one step closer to the fourth industrial revolution in laser processing technology.

Accelerating processes through parallelization (blz)

In order to exploit the available laser output of modern ultrashort-pulse lasers, several machining processes for a single workpiece may be run in parallel. During this guided tour, technologies used for laser beam forming and splitting, from a variety of providers, will be presented. These sources allow the beam power to be allocated, for instance in order to simultaneously generate multiple lines, craters, or boreholes.
