Hackathon

The Qiskit Hackathon@World of QUANTUM is the Qiskit event happening in person in Germany hosted by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), IBM Quantum's Community Team and Messe München GmbH.

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) funds research and innovation in quantum technologies and supports the development of a quantum ecosystem in Germany and Europe. With measures such as the Quantum Futur Programme, the BMBF contributes to the promotion of young scientists and other education and outreach activities. Learn more here

IBM Quantum is an industry leader in quantum computing, working everyday towards achieving quantum advantage. IBM’s full-stack approach delivers the best of IBM’s quantum computing systems together with the most complete suite of quantum software tools and cloud services. Learn, develop, and run programs with quantum applications and systems through cloud access to the most advanced quantum computers available. Learn more here.

This hackathon brings together the World of QUANTUM community for an immersive competition featuring live engagement, teamwork, and mentorship by Qiskit researchers, developers and advocates.

This hackathon is open to everyone.

Join the online workshops prior to the event to learn about quantum computing and Qiskit, and then come and join the in-person hackathon to practice your skills, meet new friends, and compete against others in your community for prizes.

The hackathon will take place in a dedicated space in Hall A1 (World of QUANTUM) at Messe München.

  • The hackathon will kickoff with an opening presentation and guideline review.
  • Participants will then form teams of 4-5 people and work on a challenge for the next 24 hours.
  • Mentors will be available to support and help the teams during the hackathon.
  • After the 24 hours, a committee of experts will evaluate the outcome and select the winners.

The hackathon is open to everyone, therefore don't worry about your background or your knowledge of quantum computing, just sign up and join us!

We have designed an event for beginners so that everyone to learn in a fun and engaging way about Qiskit and quantum computing.

While this event does not exclude anyone, a familiarity with python, Qiskit and quantum computing would help you in this competition.

About Qiskit:

Qiskit is an open source framework enabling researchers, developers and students around the world to write code for quantum computers. To learn more about (and believe us, there is much more!) here is a link where you can start: Qiskit.org
