Towards global sustainability with photonics

The study "Light for Global Ecological Sustainability" uses selected examples to show how much savings potential laser technology has in environmental protection, nature conservation and species conservation.

From forest fire monitoring to the recycling of electronic scrap—photonics offers many solutions for sustainability issues.

The video shows three exciting application examples:

 

It looks like a simple surveillance camera, but it is a laser-based high-tech system to detect forest fires at an early stage. Together with other examples the video shows: State-of-the-art photonics make a major contribution to environmental protection.
