Make Light MAKEATHON 2019

A MAKEATHON surrounding technology and photonics took place from June 25 to 26 at the trade fair in hall B2.

We brought together 80 smart minds, working on challenges within only 30 hours!

Developers, engineers, students—teams or individual participants were invited to participate and make, create and have fun with us.

What does MAKEATHON mean?

A MAKEATHON is a very innovative happening: the name is a merge of the words “make” and “marathon”.

It is an event where different teams build awesome products or projects from scratch in a 30 hours—projects that are soft- or hardware oriented.

Are you a visitor or exhibitor?

Come by and visit the event at kick-off, during the MAKING and of course the final presentations! On June 26, all projects will be presented for the audience.

What is a MAKEATHON?

A competition that enables participants to transform their ideas into functioning prototypes for the chance to bring their product to market. Focus is on both hardware and software prototypes.

Who can participate?

Anyone who wants to tinker, develop and above all, have fun with us—whether developers, designers or students: You can participate as a team or as an individual.

What is the target?

Master your challenge in about 30 hours and compete in interdisciplinary teams.

Can I sleep at the location?

Yes, there will be places to take a nap and 24h assistance provided during the MAKEATHON. You are also welcome to bring your personal equipment with you, e.g. a sleeping bag, etc.

Can I bring my own hardware?

Yes, you can also use your own hardware. We're really curious to know which hardware you love to work with! Please bring your laptop with you! We provide you with extensive materials, e.g. Arduinos, sensors, Raspberries etc. You are also welcome to bring your own material.

Do I need buy a separate ticket for the LASER World of PHOTONICS?

No, your will receive a free ticket for the trade fair after you've signed up for the MAKEATHON. The ticket is valid from June 25 to June 26, 2019.

Will catering be provided?

Yes, our sponsors will kindly provide food and drinks for all attendees.
