Photons in Production, Hall B3

Experience the special exhibition "Photons in Production", which is being designed in collaboration with the Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management (iwb) at the Technical University of Munich, the Bavarian Laser Center Erlangen (blz), and the Chair of Photonic Technologies at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg.

With over 400 square meters of exhibition space, you will gain comprehensive insights into current trends and research results in the field of laser material processing.

As a special highlight, two live demos are waiting for you. Laser cleaning demonstrator for a roll-to-roll structuring calendar machine in the production of lithium-ion battery electrodes as well as laser in weightlessness will be presented.

Topics

Live Demo: Lasers in weightlessness

Discover how the innovative laser wire arc additive manufacturing process makes it possible to produce components in microgravity. This technology could pave the way for manufacturing parts directly on space stations or during Moon and Mars missions. Join us for a live demo, where the Bayerisches Laserzentrum Erlangen (blz) demonstrate how this process works in microgravity and explore its potential benefits for future space exploration.

Additive manufacturing in medical technology and pharmaceuticals

The electrophotographic powder deposition has the potential to revolutionize powder-based additive manufacturing (AM). This approach not only significantly enhances powder efficiency and the environmental footprint of the additive manufacturing process but also opens up new application areas such as pharmaceutical 3D printing using powder-bed-based AM. A crucial element is the triboelectric charging of powder particles, which can be experienced live through the exhibit.

Latest developments in AI-based optical measurement technology

At the AI demo of Bayerisches Laserzentrum Erlangen (blz), you'll discover how autoencoder networks enable the automatic reconstruction of optical properties, extracting information beyond the training data. See how machine learning can be used to generate simple empirical models that outperform AI in specific cases, and learn how we achieve what was previously thought impossible with precise measurements of scattering coefficients and the g-factor in turbid media. We will also showcase solutions in in-vivo endoscopic imaging for carcinoma detection in the gastro intestinal tract.

Ultra short-pulse technologies

The Bayerisches Laserzentrum Erlangen (blz) present an innovative black box solution for recording relevant measurement data in USP/KPP laser material processing. It reduces space requirements, simplifies the selection of measuring equipment and enables holistic process monitoring. This creates the basis for AI-optimized process design and increases efficiency in industrial manufacturing.

Laser safety matters!

All operators, manufacturers, and distributors of laser machines must follow legal requirements and applicable standards regarding the implementation of laser safety arrangements. Violations – whether intentional or unintentional – can result in serious consequences for those responsible. The laser safety trail informs trade fair visitors about important aspects of operational and technical laser safety at five stations. The trail is a joint project of the laser safety experts from Bayerisches Laserzentrum and Ingenieurbüro Goebel.

Other topics include:

  • Applications for laser beam welding, cutting and drilling in electromobility

  • High-speed speckle averaging for phase-pure beam shaping in laser material processing

  • Innovative processes and applications for laser-based additive manufacturing

  • Hyperspectral imaging for temperature determination in laser material processing

This year, the special exhibition booth will also offer a Solution Center, where you can receive independent and free advice from scientists.
