Visa service for congress speakers
Are you a speaker at the World of Photonics Congress 2025 and need a visa for your stay in Munich? You can find all the information required here. In addition Messe München will issue a visa invitation letter upon request.
General Information
For congress speakers who require a visa to enter the Federal Republic of Germany, we set up our own visa service. Details are available here.
Generally speaking, residents of countries in the EU do not require a visa to enter the Federal Republic of Germany. For residents of several other countries, on the other hand, a visa is required to enter Germany.
An up-to-date list of all countries that do and do not require a visa is available from the German Foreign Office. Specific visa requirements for your country can be found on the websites of the German Missions abroad.

To ensure you obtain your visa before the trade fair starts, we recommend that you submit your visa application in due time.
Applications can be made as early as three months before the time of entry.
Visa invitation letter for congress speakers
How to get a visa invitation letter
- Please send your request via e-mail to the society/conference, which accepted your contribution (Oral / Poster).
- The society/conference will ask you for all the data required for a visa invitation letter and forward them to Messe München.
- Afterwards Messe München issues your personal visa invitation letter and is going to send the document as a PDF-file via e-mail.
In case you need the original document at time of your visa appointment, we offer you to send it via air mail. Please kindly note that we only offer delivery by normal air mail (non-tracking, nonregistered).
